Developer Resources

The Regional Transportation Agency of Central Maryland (RTA) supports open transit data initiatives and makes resources available to developers and applications. We utilize the General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) to convey our schedule, geographic, real-time, and other related datasets in a standardized format. To learn more about the specs and best practices we follow, visit gtfs.org.

Downloading and usage of the transit data is based on acceptance and agreement to the terms and conditions below:

  • RTA does not guarantee the accuracy of this data, nor does it warrant or endorse any application that uses this data. RTA reserves the right to alter and/or no longer provide Data at any time without prior notice.

  • RTA logos and copyrighted materials, including any confusingly similar variants, may not be used in association with Data.

  • Data is provided on an ‘as is’ and ‘as available’ basis. RTA will not be liable for damages of any kind arising from the use of Data including but not limited to direct, indirect, incidental, punitive and consequential damages.

To download our latest GTFS feed, click here. (Static schedule data may be updated multiple times a week, so check back for the latest upload.)

Our GTFS-RT feeds (Trip Updates, Vehicle Positions, and Alerts) are offered through the Swiftly API and update approximately every 15 seconds. For full production-level access to these feeds, please request an API key here.

Alternatively, “preview” versions of these feeds (updated less frequently) can be found on our OpenMobilityData profile here.
