Depot Charger Power Interface: Each bus is charged overnight (taking advantage of lower, off peak energy rates) via standard 480V/3Phase/100Amp AC power and BYD’s 80 kW AC power interface. There are two charging couplers per power interface that connect to two power receptacles built into the bus.
Depot Charger Power Receptacle: Each power receptacle is rated for 40 kW for a total of 80
kW energy transfer with both couplers connected. Charging with both couplers takes up to four hours to fully charge the bus from 0% state of charge (SOC)
to 100% SOC.
BYD buses are powered by a battery-electric propulsion system made possible by an electric-driven rear axle with two liquid cooled AC synchronous permanent magnet motors. The in-hub motors use neodymium rare earth magnets that provide additional power density and a rated load efficiency of approximately 94 percent. The rear-drive axle system eliminates costly gearboxes, transmissions, and the drive shaft and requires no differential mechanism. The power from the motor is directly transmitted to the wheels, improving efficiency and reducing noise and vibration. The buses are designed so that if one of the traction motors is completely damaged, a bus can still operate with the remaining motor.
The primary pad or transmitter is an induction coil embedded in the pavement. The primary pad transmits energy from the PPM to the secondary pad on the bus.
USB Charge Ports: Each bus is equipped with X USB charge ports, providing passengers with convenient access to power for charging their personal items like cell phones.
On-Board WiFi: Each bus is equipped with free, on-board WiFi.
